Counselling & Grief Support

We work alongside fully qualified bereavement counsellors who provide 1-to-1 or couples counselling, in person or on Zoom — completely free of charge.

At Baby Loss Retreat, counselling is an effective way of supporting individuals after the loss of a baby. It provides an opportunity to talk about your emotions in a safe, non-judgemental space — with someone who truly understands.

Whether you have experienced miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal loss, TFMR, or IVF loss, our counsellors are here for you — as an individual, a couple, or a family.

Emotional Support & Validation

  • Provides a safe space to express and work through intense emotions such as sadness, anger, guilt, and confusion.

  • Normalises feelings — bereaved families often feel isolated or misunderstood. Our counsellors validate your grief and help give you tools to be able to support you through your grief.

Mental Health Benefits

  • Reduces the risk of complicated grief or depression by guiding healthy coping strategies before grief becomes overwhelming.

  • Helps process trauma — baby loss can be traumatic, especially when sudden or involving medical complications. Counselling can reduce PTSD symptoms and support healing.

Family Dynamics & Communication

  • Improves communication within the family — different members may grieve differently, and counselling helps build understanding and avoid conflict.

  • Supports partners individually and together, helping both people navigate their unique grief journeys side by side.

Coping Strategies & Healing

  • Teaches practical techniques like mindfulness, relaxation, and journaling to help manage overwhelming emotions day to day.

  • Encourages hope and healing — while the loss is permanent, counselling helps families find ways to carry their baby's memory forward with love.
