I wish you could’ve grew up alongside your twin brother but we take comfort in knowing that you’re up in heaven with your big sister Kimberly who was born sleeping only 2 months before you were in mummy’s tummy. Maddison 'Maddie' Margaret Hoy
Maddison Margaret Hoy was born on Friday 27th February 2026 at 12:03 in QEUH Maternity Building. Soon after her birth she was then taken into the care of the NICU team, we already knew that she was going to require NICU care before she was born due to cardiac issues. Maddie spent 146 days on this earth, 132 in NICU then was transferred to PICU to carry on her journey to home where she was loaned as I like to think of to them for 14 days & she returned ‘HOME’ to NICU to fall asleep in her daddy's arms with myself & her Nanny Linda with her also. Maddison was affectionately known to many as Maddie. However through my pregnancy she would get called Maddie the Madam for being a little madam as when she was being scanned if she didn’t want to co-operate then she wouldn’t even when her nanny Linda was with us calling her a wee witch she will would miss behave. During many days, The nurses would laugh when they heard ‘Excuse me Maddie but you will get your full name then launch into various stages of saying her full name of Maddison Margaret Hoy depending on how she was behaving! Maddie’s short life was filled with courage, contentment & nothing but love of all who were lucky enough to meet her but also those that never got the chance to meet her. There was several different group chats set up for the daily Maddie Updates & her outfit of the day once we were able to dress her. Maddie was such a popular & special little girl with a love of music (especially Moana), her lights & her chair. Her chair though had to be placed on her cot so she could people watch & be part of the room gossip. Our warrior princess rarely cried, so content but she could make work for people & cause trouble silently this meant it kept her doctors & nurses on their toes. One weekend she was causing so much silent trouble one of the nurses awarded their the number one trouble maker award for NICU. Another one she became was queen of NICU when she was in her chair on the cot watching everyone in the room. Maddie loved her cuddles, however I got so many Maddie style Glasgow Kisses until she cooried into the position she was comfortable in, didn’t matter if I wasn’t it was all about her & these are memories I fondly remember. She gave special cuddles to her Nanny Linda, Grandad Jim & Aunty Theresa & Gillian. Her Nana Angela loved her video calls with Maddie. But her favourite person was her daddy, Moment she heard James’ voice she would look at me to say daddy’s here so your not needed now. She truly was a daddy’s girl. Once we her dad James & me got the news that we could start to dress her she became a popular girl as she had the best wardrobe of the NICU L1. Before we dressed her the nurses loved all her bedding, we personalised her with to this then turned into the outfit had to match the bedding. Sadly Maddie was taken from us too soon but both James & myself take great pride & comfort in being able to tell her story. From to the day she was born to the day she fell asleep & beyond Maddison has touched so many people’s hearts. Maddison we miss you every day but she came home with her lights & music being played every day to her. ✨❤️🦋”

🕯️ WAVE OF LIGHT – 15TH OCTOBER 🕯️ Tonight, at 7pm, we invite you to join us for the Wave of Light, as we remember all the babies gone too soon and the families who carry their love and memories every single day. Across the world, candles will be lit in memory of babies lost during pregnancy, at birth or shortly afterwards. Together, these candles create a wave of light that reminds every bereaved parent that their baby matters, their grief matters, and they are not alone. For us at Kirktonholme, this is more than just lighting a candle. It is about remembering our Rhona’s baby boy Craig 🩵, standing alongside families who understand this pain, and continuing to break the silence around baby loss ✨🩵
